Andrew Nickel

Partner

Andrew Nickel has spent his entire legal career dedicated to all areas of criminal and family law. A native of the far western suburbs of Chicago, Andrew earned his bachelor of arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He went on to attend Case Western Reserve University School of Law, situated in northern Ohio, graduating with honors. Along with his Juris Doctorate, Andrew successfully completed, with honors, a concentration certificate in litigation.

In addition to his years in private practice, Andrew Nickel spent nearly five years as a prosecutor in both Kane and Kendall counties. As an Assistant State’s Attorney in Kane County, Andrew handled a wide variety of cases, including traffic matters, misdemeanor and felony DUI cases, as well as other felony matters including violent crimes, theft, drug and weapon offenses. While an Assistant State’s Attorney in Kendall County and Kane County, Andrew was the supervisor of the traffic, DUI and misdemeanor division. Andrew has tried dozens of jury trials and countless bench trials.

In private practice, Andrew has utilized his vast experience as a prosecutor in successfully defending his clients against all types of criminal charges. In family cases, he has fought vigorously for his clients in divorces, paternity actions, custody disputes, and child support actions. There might be other Kane County Attorneys and surrounding area professionals, but none compare to Andrew’s unique and invaluable background. The same courtroom skills he developed as a prosecutor has made him an experienced, aggressive advocate for all of his clients, regardless of their legal needs.

Andrew will aggressively fight for you and your rights regardless of your current legal situation.

Hope Nickel

Partner

Hope primarily represents people charged with criminal offenses and couples separating both with and without child related and parenting issues. Many cases in the judicial system end in a plea agreement or some sort of settlement, which means that many attorneys have very little trial experience. Hope, however, gained extensive trial experience during her 5 years as an Assistant State’s Attorney – first in Kendall County and then in LaSalle County. Because of her prior experience as a prosecutor, Hope has an intimate knowledge of the criminal justice system and has earned the respect of attorneys, judges, and other court personnel. Now Hope uses her experience as a prosecutor to fight for and defend people charged with all types of crimes, including DUI and traffic offenses, as well as to protect the rights of separating couples.

Hope’s mission is to secure the best outcome for each of her clients. In many situations, that means Hope has to think outside the box in preparation for trial or in gathering mitigating evidence to show the prosecutor her client is a good person who deserves a break. For other clients, a negotiated, quick resolution to avoid involving children in the legal process or to help put the client’s past behind them is the right solution. And yet, for others, trial may be the only option to secure justice. Hope really listens to her clients to learn what they think would be a just outcome and to determine how to get them there.
